Agent's Guidelines

SDO Detective is a paying market. We pay $5.00 US funds for accepted fiction stories. Payment is on publication, via PayPal. If you are in a country where PayPal is not accepted, please do not submit your story as this is the only way we transfer payment for fiction. With acceptance, we acquire the right to publish your story on our web zine in any form or fashion we deem justified. We also retain archival rights, indefinitely. (We will remove your story at your request, within reason, after the issue your story appears in.)

We accept RTF or DOC attachments only. If you don't have a word processor that handles one of these file types, you can download a very feature-rich program here, completely free: WordPower Pro 3.12.

Word count should be between 1500 and 10,000 words. More is possibly acceptable, less is not likely.

We absolutely do not want any submissions in the body of an email message. These will be sent back with lots of bad language to accompany them. Remember, attachments only.

Format your submission with single spacing, with double space between paragraphs. No indentions at all - none. Use italics where needed, not the _ sign to indicate them. Further, please use italics instead of underlining or bold text. In fact, your submission should look a lot like this web page text.

We do accept reprints, but are much more likely to purchase original fiction. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

Finally, we must insist on your name, valid email address, word count and story title on the first page of your submission. If the story is a reprint, please inform us in your submission letter or on the title page where the story was previously published.
